Handmade Persian Rug

This hand-knotted Persian rug is known as Tabriz that refers to the area where it is made. Tabriz is the capital of east Azarbaijan province in Iran and is one of the main world-wide known handmade rugs and carpets producing centres. Tabriz handmade carpets and rugs are famous for their intricate designs, high density of knots, hardwearing and long lasting.

It is made of almost 90% pure fine wool and about 10% silk for the pile and the weft is cotton.

It has got 289 knots per square inch so the total number of knots is 1404540. A craftsman can weave around 500 knots per hour so it takes around 2809 hours to make this rug.

The design is known as Heriz classic medallion with floral motif.

It is brand new.
