Fine Handmade Persian Tabriz Carpet – Wool & Silk – 78” x 58” – High Knot Density

This exceptional handmade Persian carpet is a traditional Tabriz Carpet, named after the historic city of Tabriz in north-west Iran. As the capital of East Azerbaijan Province, Tabriz has long been one of the most respected weaving centers in Persia, renowned for producing carpets of remarkable precision, durability, and artistic refinement.

This piece features an impressive density of approximately 441 knots per square inch, demonstrating its fine weave, superior craftsmanship, and exceptional durability—making it suitable for both elegant interiors and high-traffic areas.

With a size of 78” x 58” (approximately 4524 square inches), the carpet contains an estimated 1,995,084 individual knots. A skilled craftsman weaving at an average rate of around 1,000 knots per hour would require approximately 1,995 hours to complete the knotting alone—excluding the additional time needed to build the loom, design and colour the pattern, and dye the wool and silk fibres.

The carpet is made with a luxurious wool and silk pile (approximately 70% wool and 30% silk) on a cotton foundation, combining durability with the subtle sheen and elegance of silk. Its rare design and fine craftsmanship make it not only a beautiful decorative piece but also an excellent investment rug.

Although this carpet is around 30 years old, it remains in very good condition, retaining its soft pile and vibrant appearance, almost like new. It is hardwearing, long-lasting, and could make a remarkable gift for a special occasion or a distinguished addition to any collection.
