Authentic Persian Nain Rug – Hand-Knotted Wool and Silk

This elegant hand-knotted Persian Nain rug originates from the historic city of Nain, located in central Iran in the province of Isfahan. Nain rugs are among the most refined Persian carpets and are highly regarded for their intricate patterns, fine materials, high knot density, and exceptional craftsmanship.

This rug features a classic central medallion design richly decorated with floral motifs and framed by three detailed borders. A distinctive element of the design is the repetition of the number eight motif within the circular medallion, a symbolic pattern that traditionally represents perfection and harmony in Persian mythology and art.

The rug is crafted using mainly fine, high-quality wool with approximately 10% silk incorporated into the pile, giving the design additional brilliance and highlighting the delicate details. The foundation is made with a cotton weft, providing strength and structural stability. This combination of materials ensures the rug is durable, hardwearing, and long lasting, while maintaining a soft and elegant appearance.

While similar Nain-style designs are sometimes woven in other regions of Iran and sold at lower prices—often at least 30% less than authentic Nain rugs—this piece is an original Nain rug.
