This beautiful hand-knotted Persian runner rug, known as Shiraz, originates from the historic city of Shiraz, the capital of Fars Province in southern Iran. Shiraz is one of the few regions where traditional natural dyes are still used to color the wool, resulting in rich, vibrant tones that age gracefully over time.

Shiraz handmade rugs are often inspired by nature, featuring lively color combinations and expressive tribal motifs. A distinctive characteristic of these rugs is the use of wool for both the pile and the weft, enhancing their strength, flexibility, and long-lasting durability.

This runner is also referred to as Qashqai, named after the nomadic Qashqai people who weave these exceptional pieces. The Qashqai tribe migrates seasonally within southern Iran—settling in Fars Province near Firouzabad from spring to early autumn, and moving toward Hormozgan Province near the Persian Gulf during the cooler months. Their rich cultural traditions and storytelling are beautifully reflected in each handmade rug.

Approximately 40 years old, this vintage runner remains in excellent condition. It retains a soft pile, has been professionally cleaned prior to importation, and is ready to enhance a new home with warmth and character.
