Handmade Persian Rug

This beautiful hand-knotted Persian rug is known as Kashan Joshaghan, named after the region where it is crafted. There are three villages in Persia called Joshaghan, but the one we’re referring to is located in the Kashan region, often referred to as Joshaghan Ghali (where “Ghali” means carpet). Joshaghan is one of the few villages that has earned worldwide recognition for its unique and special designs. The main motif in Joshaghan rugs is Shandlin, typically decorated with floral patterns. The philosophy behind this motif is rooted in the ancient Persian tradition of Illumination, known as Hekmate Khosravani. “Hekmat” is a Persian word for philosophy, which also encompasses mysticism and mythology.

This particular Joshaghan rug is also known as Haj Khanomi. It is a rare and collectible piece, with the potential to last for centuries, carrying both the history of the families who have owned it and its own rich history.

Although this rug is about 60 years old, it is in perfect condition and looks as if it is brand new. It has been washed before being imported.
