Handmade Persian Round Rug

This exquisite Persian hand-knotted rug features a classic Nain medallion design, renowned for its elegance and fine craftsmanship. Originating from the historic city of Nain in central Iran, Nain rugs are celebrated worldwide for their intricate patterns and refined detail.

Handwoven with predominantly pure fine wool, enhanced with delicate silk highlights in the pile and a strong cotton weft, this rug is a remarkably fine piece with approximately 256 knots per square inch.

With a total size of 3,481 square inches, the rug contains approximately 891,136 individual knots. Considering that a skilled craftsperson can weave around 500 knots per hour for such an intricate pattern, it would take over 1,782 hours—more than 220 working days—to complete the weaving alone. This does not include the time required for designing the pattern, preparing the materials, and setting up the loom.
